SSRS Report Error – AX_CompanyName

When running a report in DAX2012 you might get the following message:

The DefaultValue expression for the report parameter ‘AX_CompanyName’ contains an error: Request for the permission of type ‘System.Security.Permissions.EnvironmentPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089’ failed. (rsRuntimeErrorInExpression)

The error seems to occur mostly with Reporting Services that have been configured to use a Microsoft Dynamics AX configuration file, Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.ReportConfiguration.axc.

BI deployment – Only dimension attributes error

When trying to deploy the standard DAX2012 cubes to your analysis server you might get an error message ‘Only dimension attributes and attribute relationships can have translations in Standard Edition.’.

If you are running the standard edition of SQL server, then this version does not support language translations. To eliminate this error you need to delete your cube project from the AOT (Visual Studio Projects -> Analysis Services Projects). The create a new project, but when the language screen is displayed select NOTHING. This will eliminate the translations and enable you to deploy your cubes.

Report debugging – error messages

When testing report it is useful to switch on the remote debugging so the error messages are displayed on your local system.

This can be done by running a SQL script against the reporting server database:

UPDATE    ConfigurationInfo
SET        Value = ‘TRUE’
WHERE    Name = ‘EnableRemoteErrors’

Remember to restart your reporting service after you make this change.
